Assured Fire Safety Consultancy Attends the NAHFO Annual Conference 2026
The Assured Fire Safety Consultancy team recently attended the NAHFO Annual Conference 2026, held at the University of Liverpool, joining healthcare fire safety, estates, facilities, and compliance professionals from across the UK for three days of learning, collaboration, and industry discussion.
The annual conference is one of the leading events in the healthcare fire safety calendar, bringing together experts from across the sector to share knowledge, discuss emerging challenges, and explore best practise approaches to fire safety management within healthcare environments.
Throughout the event, our team had the opportunity to meet with healthcare estates managers, fire officers, compliance professionals, and NHS stakeholders to discuss some of the key fire safety issues facing healthcare organisations today. Conversations covered a wide range of topics, including fire risk assessments, compartmentation surveys, fire door compliance, fire strategies, passive fire protection, and the ongoing challenges of maintaining compliance across complex healthcare estates.
The conference provided an excellent platform to exchange ideas, gain valuable insight into sector developments, and better understand the evolving needs of healthcare providers. We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and took the time to speak with us. The discussions were both informative and encouraging, reinforcing the shared commitment across the industry to improving fire safety standards and protecting patients, staff, and visitors.
Supporting the Hospital Fire Door Compliance Pledge
A key discussion point at this year’s NAHFO Annual Conference was the Healthcare Fire Door Pledge, an important initiative led by NAHFO members with the ambition of eradicating non-compliant fire door installations across healthcare buildings by 14 June 2027 — marking the 10th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower Fire.
During the conference, Jeremy had the opportunity to meet with Stuart McCormack, Fire Safety Lead at Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, whose organisation is among those supporting this commitment to improving fire door safety throughout healthcare estates.
The pledge promotes best practice through:
✔ Third-party certified fire door assemblies
✔ Certified fire door installations
✔ Robust handover inspections
✔ Annual reporting and ongoing compliance monitoring
As fire safety consultants working extensively within healthcare environments, we recognise the critical role fire doors play in protecting patients, staff, visitors, and property. Ensuring fire doors are correctly specified, installed, inspected, and maintained is fundamental to effective passive fire protection and overall building safety.
We are proud to support initiatives that drive higher standards, improve accountability, and help create safer healthcare environments across the UK.
Thank you to NAHFO and its members for championing this important commitment to fire safety.
Celebrating Excellence at the NAHFO Awards Dinner
A particular highlight of the event was attending the NAHFO Awards Dinner, an evening dedicated to recognising excellence, innovation, and achievement within healthcare fire safety.
The awards brought together professionals from across the country to celebrate outstanding contributions to the sector while providing an opportunity to strengthen industry relationships and reflect on the progress being made throughout healthcare fire safety.
The evening also supported Merseyside Against Blood Cancers, helping to raise awareness and funds for an important charitable cause. We would like to thank the organisers for hosting such a memorable event and creating an opportunity for colleagues across the industry to come together in recognition of the work being undertaken to improve safety standards throughout healthcare estates.
Looking Ahead
As healthcare environments continue to evolve, collaboration and knowledge sharing remain essential to ensuring effective fire safety management. Events such as the NAHFO Annual Conference play a vital role in bringing together professionals who are committed to improving standards, sharing expertise, and addressing the challenges facing the sector.
We are grateful to NAHFO for organising another successful conference and to everyone who connected with the Assured Fire Safety Consultancy team throughout the event.
We look forward to continuing these conversations, supporting healthcare organisations across the UK, and playing our part in helping create safer healthcare environments for all.
