Assured Fire Safety Consultancy at Stroma Building Control Supplying Fire Strategy Training
Last week, our team had the pleasure of delivering our Foundation in Operational Fire Door Safety CPD training to the dedicated Fire Warden team at Cistermiser.
The session was designed to provide practical, real-world guidance on fire door safety — equipping attendees with the knowledge and confidence to identify common fire door defects, understand compliance responsibilities, and recognise when issues should be escalated for specialist intervention.
Supporting Compliance Through Practical Training
Fire doors are a critical component of any building’s passive fire protection strategy. Ensuring they are correctly specified, installed, and maintained is essential for life safety and regulatory compliance.
During the session, we covered:
Fire door legislation – Understanding the legal framework and responsibilities under current fire safety regulations
Accreditation and certification – Recognising third-party certification schemes and what they mean in practice
Fire door components and common defects – Identifying issues such as damaged seals, incorrect gaps, faulty ironmongery, and signage deficiencies
Compliance and due diligence – Record keeping, inspection frequency, and demonstrating a proactive approach to fire safety management
Interactive Learning and Practical Application
It was fantastic to see such strong engagement throughout the session. The walk-around inspection allowed attendees to apply their learning in a live environment, identifying real examples and discussing best-practice solutions.
The Q&A discussions encouraged open dialogue around common challenges, while the final assessment reinforced key learning outcomes and ensured knowledge retention.
At Assured Fire Safety Consultancy, we believe effective training should be practical, engaging, and directly applicable to day-to-day responsibilities. The proactive approach demonstrated by the Fire Warden team at Cistermiser reflects a strong commitment to maintaining high fire safety standards.
