Before and After: Fire Door Replacement Enhances Safety and Compliance
We’re proud to share the successful completion of Phase 2 of the fire door replacement project at Harefield Hospital, demonstrating our continued commitment to fire safety and regulatory compliance within healthcare environments.
As part of this important upgrade, we replaced multiple fire doors that no longer met current fire safety standards. Following a detailed assessment and close collaboration with the hospital’s facilities team, our fire safety specialists installed new LPCB-certified fire door systems. These installations not only meet the latest regulatory requirements but also provide enhanced durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal – all essential in a high-demand healthcare setting.
Before: Aged Doors with Safety Risks
The original doors, while once fit for purpose, had deteriorated over time. Issues included compromised seals, misalignment, and general wear and tear—all of which can significantly reduce a fire door’s effectiveness in an emergency.
After: Compliant, Fit for Purpose, Higher Value
The new installations include certified fire-rated doors with intumescent seals, modern hardware, and clean finishes tailored to the clinical environment. These fit-for-purpose upgrades enhance fire safety, giving staff and patients greater confidence, while improving daily usability. Additionally, they contribute to lower operational costs and deliver higher long-term value.
We’d like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Golden Thread Fire Delay for hosting such a well-organised and impactful events. It was a privilege to be part of such an important gathering.
As we look ahead, we are committed to carry on these conversations, embedding the principles of the golden thread in everything we do and continuing to advocate for safer buildings for all.
A Safer Environment for All
Fire doors are a critical part of a hospital’s passive fire protection system. By upgrading these vital components, we’re helping ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors alike. Our team completed the works with minimal disruption to hospital operations, maintaining clear communication with site managers throughout the process.
We’re pleased to have played a role in improving safety at Harefield Hospital and thank their team for their cooperation during the works.
